Well, I must admit that I was very late to join the Tomb Raider fan base, but this is the game that got me hooked. I first started playing in October of 2007, (yes, I'm 11 years behind, but hey, better late than never, I always say). The thing that I liked about the game was the graphics, a little sketchy, but overall advanced for the time, way better than any of the Mario games. The story line was intriguing, and the characters were highly interesting, but Lara was still my favorite. The way she handles those guns is freakin' amazing. This is the first game that I beat, and so far my second favorite (TR2 is number one). All in all: Fantastic! (Sorry, had to add a touch of Dr. Who. Maybe Lara should go on a journey with him! Great story idea!) Very nicely designed game!
Time and time again i find myself replaying this game.Yes, the graphics are pretty ugly, and the enemys were all blocks, but it is a brilliant game.I much prefer the old style platforming, i used to hold my breath when making a risky leap, and it added a lot of strategy to the game. The good points are the levels themselves, and while not looking that pretty, they gave the feel of isolation and claustraphobia very well, the story was interesting and the bosses were exciting. Nobody should ever forget about this game, it is brilliant.
there wasn't much outfit and the graphic wasn't so good. Levels are good but sound and the music wasn't. Enemy looked horrible and there wasn't much gun. game puzzle was the best in this game.
I was ok game at that time and now it has just ughly graphic and I just can't play it now. Enemy looked all blocky and stuff, it look like put sphere as the head and rectangular prism as the body and cylinder as a arm. Cinematic wan't that good and it looked much unrealistic. Levels and puzzle was good so if they had exactly same level but put something like chronicles graphic then I would have definately liked it. so i will give it 6/10
The Original Tomb Raider was an unforgetable experience,
My cousins first introduced me to the Tomb Raider life when I was 6 and since then I have loved it more!
This game was a great one as the first in the series, the moves, weapons, surroundings and enemies were all great!
I'm glad we got to see abit of Lara every year.
When I first played this game, I was about 7 and was very scared of going through the traps and getting killed. but as I have grown older I have come to love this game even more. The level structure and difficulty was good as well as the weapons. The magnum and uzis were the best and the guns were great against the enemies.
The puzzles were challenging but fun to do and if you are a new gamer looking for something to play, pick this game up. Its great to play and when you are in the zone you can have fun with it.
Lara is also looking as stunning as ever (although hotter in legend and anniversary )
I give it 7/10!!!
This game is truly remarkable. This is the game that started it all it blended action and adventure to get with lots of puzzling. This game kept to it true meaning as being in tombs. All in all a very fun game to play for the veterans of the tomb raider series. As for the newbies if you guys really like action and adventure with a lot of puzzling then this is the game for you but if you were looking for something a little easier from the tomb raider series then i would think you would get tomb raider chronicles
This is the one game that started it all and the favorite of most TR players out there. It is mine for sure. The complete loneliness feel you got when playing this game is scary! It's what Tomb Raiding is all about anyway. I can't really pick a favorite level, but I love Peru and Egypt the most. Atlantis had some serious moments and it's where the plot thickens. All in all, this is really one great game (even if it looks dated) and you might have trouble running on newer PCs (remember it's a 1996 game, it was programmed to run in DOS), but there are plenty of sites to guide you through the installation and patches to get it working. There's one paid tool (GliDOS) that makes graphics prettier and some folk are importing hi-rez textures into the game so it looks better. You should check it out (look for 'Tomb Raider Xtra'). If you're a PC player, also look for the expansion pack ('Unfinished Business'), four new levels that keep the same spirit and feel of the original game.
The first Tomb Raider game that came out in 1996. Lara Croft is hired by Jacqueline Natla to find a mysterious artifact, which turns out to be only a small part of a larger artifact called the Atlantean Scion. So Lara goes off searching for all the pieces in South America, Greece, Egypt and Atlantis. Although cliched nowadays, at the time this was a revolutionary game that possible changed gaming itself. Even with it's primitive feel this still has something that none of the classic sequels managed to acheive. The Gold version fixes some of the more annoying things about the original game and if you don't already own it then you should go grab yourself a copy now.
